Success and Failure: Movie Posters

This is a great example of success in poster design. The iron man title is nicely centered and with tony stark in the middle, he creates a balance because he is the vertical axis of the poster, Iron Man title being the horizontal axis of the design, and the iron man suits being displayed from left to right balances out the image.

I chose this as a failure in design because I feel it was too simplistic.
To put the head of a person on a silhouette explains very little on who
the person is suppose to be. Its in a stressful state because of the placement
of the head. The silhouette doesn't do much for the poster. That could be
superman with a bad haircut. The head is a eyesore. All that it tells me
is that he must be one of the x-men. It makes the picture imbalance with
head taking up most of the right side of the poster.

Movement

Movement, Option 1

This here is a magazine cover with one of the greatest former NBA players Michael Jordan. This design shows an example of simulated motion. The design of Michael Jordan moving through simulated motion in three different perceptions of him attempting to make a slam dunk. The designer used real time motion of a basketball players movement of running and jumping. The placement of the ball and his movement creates an optical flow that a basketball player normally makes even though this cover simulates him flying.

This jumping pose is another example of movement. It displays a freeze frame of movement in the logo. This not only says movement but the image also interprets movement with the dance move. The movement of the body is seen in this silhouette of a female dancer. This is an example of info design.
